Background history:

Born in Oxford during 1958 after 13 years that world war 2 has ended there was a birth of the creative son who is called as Julian Opie. Little did he soon be noticed for his huge talent in portraits and sculpture. During his educational years he decided to go to Goldsmith School of Art, teaching and learning him on different kinds of media. Back then there were no good computing equipment around so all he had to use was traditional tools, tools such as like pencil, pen and paintbrushes etc. During those educational years took him only from 1979 till 1983.

Julian Opie is a British sculptor and digital artist associated with the New British Sculpture movement, and best known for his digital portraits. The way he creates his digital portraits, he uses his digital program called Adobe illustrator. He creates a very simple, bright and bold appeal to the audience which creates in a typical happy, excitable mood.

No matter what portraits you see it is always the same texture and feeling. The skills that Julian really needed was only using some certain digital tools in illustrator such as the pen tool and paint bucket tool to fill the background colour. The only visual reference that I could find was a inspired piece of artwork from Andywarhol were he also used wacky vibrant colours.

Most of his work is included in several public collections, such as the Tate Gallery in London, the National Museum of Art in Osaka, and the Museum of Modern Art in New York. His work is showed to a lot of people around the world to see how magnificent and simple his artwork is.

My opinion:

In my opinion, I too like the look of the simplistic style of the digital portraits that Julian Opie creates. It also gives me in a on going and a happy way of enjoying things that I like that sort of vibe. I would say that Julian Opie is the modern Andy Warhol, the way he puts in a slightly similar style as Andy‘s. The artwork it self also makes me relaxed and comfortable. It also conveys the feeling of life and nature as it is viewing you as the judger to judge on what people look like on their characteristic and personality the way the portrait portrays.
