Blender dense topo fix

Writer's picture: Nicholas YamamotoNicholas Yamamoto

aight y'all, sense some of you guys be having dense topology and have a hard time trying to keep it smooth, here yah go

this is quite simple actually

so you see here, this is kind of dense but even

So in order to do this you first of course have to make a low poly mesh and add density

but when it's as dense as you'd like and there are some shading errors, there is a simple fix so you don't have to move every verticie manually. (you might have to move some depending)

So press space if and search up "Laplacian smooth Verticies"

press enter, click it, whatever your option is with your blender preferences.

(note that you have to select all of the verticies except for the edges unless you want to)

My difference is very minimal because my mesh for the most part already had perfectly fine topology.

But you can see it, for you it may make a huge difference. Don't do this if your topology isn't decent.

And you can apply as many times as needed.

The option basically smooths and evens the mesh accordingly.

and after that, you're done.

(and one more note, if there are vertices that dip and add dents, it will curve into them so be careful)

Okay hello!

For people that don't know what it does, it basically relaxes a bunch of faces and verts just like loop tools' relax.

Laplacian smoothing work best on a set of faces, loop tools' relax work best on edges.
