hey guys, this is a tutorial on making dent/bump/detail illusions

its helpful when making small details for time saving purposes, and for not damaging topology in certain cases, which in turn leads to lower poly counts.

example:

these aren't embedded in the surfaces at all, just right above it

as well as this thing

the objects in the 2nd picture are simple to create

ree

first start with a circle

then extrured outwards and forwads

gas caps can also be made using this technique, but i'd advise against it because they are pretty big details, and you'll notice it floating at high angles. it isn't too bad though. be creative! i haven't found too many use cases, but I'm sure it would help some people
